A Bit About Me

Bhavika is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with a Master’s degree of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CACREP Accredited; Chi Sigma Iota Honors) from Argosy University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Dallas. She is from New York City and has lived in Texas for over 10 years.

Bhavika has gained her professional and clinical training from a variety of clinical settings and each of the settings has prepared her to be a compassionate and eclectic therapist.

  • She completed her undergraduate psychology internship at Fulbright Neuropsychology which is where her clinical foundation stemmed from. During her last year as an undergraduate student, she was immediately hired as a clinic coordinator at Fulbright Neuropsychology. She continued to obtain clinical exposure and training in clinical intakes, clinical and forensic interviews, neuropsychological assessments administration and scoring, report writing, counseling skills, and case management. Bhavika developed an interest in traumatic brain injury and executive dysfunction cases.

  • While continuing her work at Fulbright Neuropsychology, she completed her graduate clinical internship at the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center (DCAC). At DCAC, she obtained extensive training in trauma-informed evidence-based practices and she worked with kids (ages 4-18) who experienced various forms of trauma and abuse. Her main interest was to work with people who experienced trauma and abuse.

  • She quickly understood the need to educate the community about prevention efforts for gender-based violence. She continued her post-graduate clinical work at several different private practices and a culturally specific domestic violence nonprofit. She worked as a full-time therapist and program manager at CHETNA, providing a diverse set of services (i.e., counseling, case management, outreach education,  to South Asian survivors of gender-based violence.

Bhavika has developed a skill and style that is instrumental in working with clients struggling to feel safe, balanced, and authentic. In addition, she helps clients learn new strategies to challenge and reframe their thought processes to overcome difficulties in their daily life.
